But the current generation of young people seem addicted to their smartphones. I get it. Texting is neat. But at restaurants and Starbucks everyone is on their cellphones and laptops instead of using good ole fashioned verbal communication.
How will technology, social networking, and the Fourth Amendment get along? A new app allows snapping pictures of license plates and then getting the phone number of the owner of that vehicle. Cops already do this with a technology that constantly takes pictures of license plates/scans a bar code and then runs it through a database searching for outstanding warrants.
