GOP Blowback Begins ‘Primary Lindsey’ Campaign to Replace Senator Graham

On March 6th, 2013 Senator Rand Paul began a 13 hour filibuster forcing the Obama Administration to clearly explain their stance regarding drone strikes. Paul demanded they answer the question does the President think he has the authority to kill non-combatant Americans on US soil with drones? Meanwhile, Senator John McCain and Senator Lindsey Graham were eating dinner with President Obama.

The next morning both McCain and Graham demonstrated their disdain for the filibuster, speaking on the Senate floor.  Of Senator Paul’s filibuster Graham said “cheapens the debate”  and ”I find the question offensive,” and “I do not believe that question deserves an answer”.

For many Tea Party and Liberty movement conservatives Sen. Graham went too far and they are ready to do whatever they can to end his political career.

Dustin Stockton of WesternPac and national organizer of Day of Resistance Rallies tweetedconsidering catching a plane to SC and not leaving until we have a candidate to defeat@GrahamBlog #StandWithRand

There is a Primary Lindsey facebook page dedicated to replacing the Senator in 2014 primary. Their mission statement on the about page it simply says “Stop Lindsey” .  A google search revealed that the domain called PrimaryGraham.com was purchased on March, 8th 2013.

On twitter the hash tags #primarylindsey and #primarygraham are beginning to blow up.

Lawrence O’Donnell of MSNBC explains ‘How Empty Headed Rand Paul’s Stunt Was’

Lawrence O’Donnell launched a string verbal attacks against Senator Rand Paul’s filibuster. O’Donnell backing his arguments against the courageous Senator using a video of floor comments by the Republican old guard and dinner mates of President Obama – John McCain and Lindsey Graham.

While both of O’Donnell’s guest tried to have a reasonable discussion Lawrence could not resist continual attacks on Senator Paul’s character:

O’Donnell calls Rand Paul ‘Horribly Flawed Messenger’

and ‘how Empty Headed Rand Paul’s stunt was’

and ‘He said things that were a little bit more than Crazy

and ‘Rand Paul Pretended that his Performance art turn on the Senate floor yesterday was about forcing the Obama administration to answer a question’

and ‘Spewing Infantile Fantasies’

and ‘I haven’t heard anything Sleazier than that on the Senate floor’

and ‘Rand Paul is Stark Raving Mad

and ‘Perfect reason NOT to stand with Rand’

and ‘Do you think there’s more than 14 minutes of actual contact in what that Psychopath said on the Senate floor’

and ‘if you want to #StandWithRand – do you want to stand with all of the Vile Spewing Madness that came out of that Crazy Person’s mouth’

and ‘your standing with a Crazy person’

and ‘there has never been a filibuster that wasn’t a Stunt and wasn’t Pandering

…meanwhile O’Donnell’s guests were trying to have a relevant discussion about civil liberties and the fact that Rand Paul actual brought this important issue of using drones to kill American people to the country’s dinner table for the first time…

Rand Paul Shock Admission: Senate Never Even Saw the Fiscal Bill Before Voting On It

Senator Paul said ‘This is no way to run a government’ after exposing on Fox News’ Hannity that the fiscal cliff bill was offered somewhere online three minutes before it was voted on in the senate. He discussed that Washington has had 10 years to deal with this problem and did nothing until after the last minute.

Rand Paul/Mike Lee 2016?

A blogger from The Hill suggests Senators Rand Paul and Mike Lee are bringing maturity and realism to DC. With their strong leadership this could encourage a run for President by serious constitutional conservatives.

From The Hill:

Paul and Lee have added strength, maturity and character to the Senate since assuming office in 2011. They and they alone in the Senate have brought the Tea Party’s passionate rants to responsible and effectively engaged government. We start again with them. Both should have their eyes on the Oval Office in 2016.

Exclusive Interview: Rand Paul weathers endorsement storm

TAMPA, June 18 2012 – 218 years ago, George Washington signed the Jay Treaty, reestablishing economic relations with Great Britain. Claiming that John Jay and the Federalist Party had sold America out to the British and betrayed France, Jefferson’s Republicans denounced Jay as a monarchist and a traitor.

His effigy was burned and one newspaper went so far as to print, “John Jay, ah! the arch traitor – seize him, drown him, burn him, flay him alive.”

Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky might know how Jay felt. Since endorsing Mitt Romney for president on June 7, Paul has endured a barrage of criticism from his father’s supporters and those who consider themselves part of the larger “liberty movement.”

There have even been a few death threats.

I spoke to Senator Paul last Thursday. He was understandably concerned by the more outlandish reactions, but put them in perspective.
