Not even an hour after we asked the question, The Hill gives us the answer: “The Obama administration will be asking Congress to raise the debt limit in the coming days, White House press secretary Jay Carney said on Tuesday. “I’m confident it will be executed in a matter of days, not weeks,” he told reporters. The notification by the administration — which had been scheduled for last month — was delayed because Congress has been holding only pro forma sessions. The White House will be asking Congress to raise the U.S. borrowing limit by $1.2 trillion.
The U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba will not be closing any time soon thanks to President Barack Obama’s approval of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a constitutional attorney who’s represented terrorism suspects told Raw Story this week in an exclusive interview.
Even though President Barack Obama made closing Guantanamo one of his core campaign promises in the lead-up to the presidential election in 2008, that promise now appears to be “nearly impossible” to fulfill thanks to provisions in the new laws, Baher Azmy, legal director of the Center for Constitutional Rights, explained. ……….
When it comes to corruption, cronyism and general muppetry in Washington D.C., the only real question is ‘where does one start?‘ Yet one has to start somewhere to conclude with a list of the ten most corrupt and despicable marionettes in D.C. Which is precisely what JudicialWatch has done in its annual compilation of the “Top 10 Most Corrupt Politicians in Washington D.C.” for 2011. And confirming what everyone knows, that both the left and right are merely irrelevant names for the same general social affliction, or should we call it by its true name – wealth pillage – the split is even between democrats and republicans. In no particular order, the winners of 2011 are…
- Rep. Spencer Bachus (R-AL)
- Former Senator John Ensign (R-NV)
- Rep. Alcee Hastings (D-FL)
- Rep. Laura Richardson (D-CA)
- Rep. David Rivera (R-FL)
- Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA)
- Rep. Don Young (R-AK)
- Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr. (D-IL)
And of course:
- Attorney General Eric Holder
- President Barack Obama
While a detailed look is really not necessary as we are quite familiar with everyone on ths list, here it is nonetheless?……………..
On the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Texas Congressman Ron Paul was asked about his favorite US President. For those who are up on their US History, Paul’s preference should come as no surprise – it is President Grover Cleveland.
President Cleveland, who lived from 1837 to 1908, is the only man to have served two non-consecutive terms as president – though he actually won the popular vote in a third presidential election. Surprisingly, Cleveland accomplished all this as a Democrat during a political era otherwise dominated by Republicans.
Why does Ron Paul like Cleveland?…………
NDAA 2012 codifies Commander in Chief President Obama, DHS, military police waging war against American internet users, independent reporters, whistleblowers of high-level corruption
The National Defense Authorization Bill 2012 (NDAA FY2012) passed in the House yesterday, contains language allowing the Pentagon to wage cyberwar on domestic enemies of the state, a human and civil rights violation of freedom of speech and freedom of the press, as reported by MSNBC Wednesday, potentially impacting both Occupy movement and Tea Party participants plus independent news reporters and whistleblowers exposing government corruption. President Obama will have the bill to sign this week according to Government Executive, as ACLU and David Swanson urgently call Americans to action to thwart the signing of the bill into law. …………..
A poll released Tuesday found that in head-to-head election match-ups between President Barack Obama and various Republican presidential candidates, Texas Rep. Ron Paul fared best among non-white voters.
In a hypothetical contest against the president, the CNN/Opinion Research poll found Paul with 25 percent of the non-white vote. …….
President Barack Obama acknowledged for the first time Monday that a US drone was in Iranian hands and said the United States has asked Tehran to return the sophisticated spycraft.
“We’ve asked for it back. We’ll see how the Iranians respond,” Obama said at a news conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki.
It was the first open confirmation by the Obama administration that Iran was in possession of the drone, which Tehran says it brought down as the plane was flying over its territory. ……..
