During the clip, Mr. Cain dismisses Ron Paul as a good President because he wants to cut too much precious federal Leviathan while Cain says “that is throwing the baby out with the bath water.” Mr. Cain endorses much of what the federal Leviathan does today but thinks that he and other businessmen like Mitt Romney can reform the beast and have it be more effective. Cain’s campaign boasts that his 9-9-9 “is revenue neutral” and that Cain’s ultimate goal is a 23% national sales tax.
This means Cain is comfortable filling the shoes of a President who is currently spending a mere 22% of GDP. The great writer H.L. Mencken once wrote “Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.” Mencken would love to witness the tea Party’s fascination with the Constitution with their simultaneous embrace of tyrants like Herman Cain.
